Tia Julia's famous Baru nut butter

BLEND THEM INTO A
NUTRIENT-DENSE BUTTER!

Ingredients:

8 oz. (1 heaping cup) roasted baru nuts,
preferably with the shells removed.*

3 - 4 tablespoons coconut oil, peanut butter, or cashew butter (depending on how thick you want the nut butter to be.

Salt, to taste

*To remove the shells, put the nuts in an oven preheated to 350°F and roast for 5 minutes. Then put the nuts on a kitchen towel and roll them around roughly to loosen most of the skins. Pull off any remaining loosened skins.

Instructions:

  • Place the baru nuts in a high-powered blender or food processor. Blend on medium-high speed until the nuts have mostly broken down and started to form a butter, scraping down the sides of the machine as necessary.

  • Add the coconut oil, peanut butter, or cashew butter and blend to combine.

  • Add salt to taste. If you use salted peanut buter you likely won't need any.

  • Pour into a jar and store in a cool dry place. Enjoy!
